Colorado stocks: Starz up 7% on news of Sony deal

Wall Street indexes took a break from their upward climb Monday. In Colorado, Starz and Venaxis led actively traded gainers.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the trading day at 13,971.24, down 21.73 points (0.16 percent).

The Nasdaq Composite finished at 3,192, down 1.87 points (0.06 percent).

The S&P 500 closed at 1,517.01, down 0.92 points (0.06 percent).

Among actively traded Colorado-based stocks, the Starz series A Liberty Capital stock (STRZA) led the day?s gainers percentagewise, up 7.44 percent ($1.24) to close at $17.91.

The Douglas County-based cable entertainment network said Monday it had agreed with Sony Pictures to extend the end of its exclusive content agreement with the studio from 2016 to 2021.

Other Colorado gainers:

? Venaxis Inc. (APPY) ? Up 6.87 percent (16 cents) to $2.49.

? Array BioPharma Inc. (ARRY) ? Up 2.92 percent (11 cents) to $3.88.

? Ascent Solar Technologies Inc. (ASTI) ? Up 2.28 percent (1 cent) to 65 cents.

? Advanced Energy Industries Inc. (AEIS) ? Up 1.47 percent (24 cents) to $16.61.

At least six Colorado stocks closed within 1 percent of their 52-week high share price, including Apartment Investment & Management Co., or Aimco (AIV), PDC Energy Inc. (PDCE), Transmontaigne Partners LP (TLP), DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. (DVA), StarTek Inc. (SRT) and Pilgrim?s Pride Corp. (PPC).

Among actively traded Colorado-based stocks that declined on the day was Arca Biopharma Inc. (ABIO), down 6.82 percent (5 cents) to close at 61.5 cents.

Other Colorado decliners:

? Vista Gold Corp. (VGZ) ? Down 4.33 percent (10 cents) to $2.21.
