Egypt changes venue for trial of ousted president

CAIRO (AP) — A senior Egyptian judicial official says the venue for the trial of the former president set to begin on Monday has been changed to a police academy in an eastern Cairo district.
Sunday's surprise announcement by appeals court judge Medhat Idris followed fears of widespread violence around the initial designated location, a different police academy in a southern Cairo district.
Supporters of the ousted Islamist Mohammed Morsi had called for mass rallies outside the initial venue.
Morsi has been held in undisclosed destination since his ouster by July 3 popularly backed military coup. He stands accused of incitement to murder.
